Episode 117: P.O.D. with Bryan Patton of As The Story Grows - Discography Discussion

May 19th, 2019

Nu-Metal May rolls on with P.O.D. on this episode of Discography Discussion. P.O.D. was the band in the late 90’s that made “Christian rock” acceptable for the masses. It’s hard to talk about a band that objectively had a major influence in the post 9/11 music scene. We decided to call in Bryan Patton of the “As the Story Grows” podcast to help us shine some light on these innovators. Also, Bryan gives his thoughts on Norma Jean, as well as some Hopesfall insight that Dan is especially interested in. #discussmetal #PayableOnDeath #POD #AsTheStoryGrows #BryanPatton

Episode 116: Spineshank - Discography Discussion

May 12th, 2019

Have you ever listened to a band you grew up with and wondered “why isn’t this band more popular?” That is the question that plagued Dan and Joe throughout Spineshank’s discography. They had all the elements of a hit band, but for some reason were overshadowed by their peers. If you are looking for a good nu-metal experience, you really can’t go wrong with Spineshank…..mostly. #discussmetal #Spineshank #numetalmay

Or did they drown in a pool of mediocrity? #discussmetal #NuMetalMay #DrowningPool

Episode 093: Pitchshifter - Discography Discussion

December 2nd, 2018

It seemed like industrial was everywhere in the 90s and early 2000s. Hundreds of bands were flooding the market, and trying to put their own stamp on the house that Nine Inch Nails built. Pitchshifter was one such band, and has played no less than four different styles throughout their career. On this episode of Discography Discussion, we look for a unifying theme in Pitchshifter, and try to find out if the band was original, or just another trend hopping metal band. #Pitchshifter #discussmetal

Episode 089: Saviour Machine - Discography Discussion

November 4th, 2018

Some bands waddle in a sea of mediocrity throughout their careers. In contrast, there are artists who spend most of their waking hours trying to master their craft. What happens when one pursuit of perfection becomes bigger than the individual, and the sheer complexity of what they created starts spiraling out of control? Saviour Machine is very much one of those bands. On this episode of Discography Discussion we discuss all of their releases and try to understand what went wrong with the band’s “Legend” trilogy; a concept that spanned well over a decade in production. Also, Dan reads a statement by George Rivera (one of Saviour Machine’s biggest supporters) concerning his exposure to the band. #discussmetal #SaviourMachine
